People had to find local substitutes to high quality products caming from everywhere. Enormous cities with people doing all kinds of jobs, but having no idea basically how to how to survive on your own. So our civilization could crumble much more quickly in a disastros scenario tan than the one in classical antiquity. But if ye matined something like that in our society, with things like internely not functioning any more for a coupleof months, then tha, tha, the consequences would be disastrous.
