The Importance of Easter Week in Spain

Easter is the most important week of the year for the Spanish to the Catholics. They carry these giant floats with an icon of Jesus and one with Mary, his mum. The processions are all around pain and suffering so they're extremely heavy. Although I'm not religious in any way, shape or form, I kind of admire the social cohesion that this thing brings because everybody comes out and celebrates together. And you don't have to be religious to become wrapped up in the whole thing - it's amazing.
