Did Ptolemy Think That the Copernican Model Was the Real Thing?

Ptolemy has a very interesting mathematical philosophy, which gets ignored. In the sixteenth century you have a return to the aristotalian homocentric model with a fra castoro who actually gave syphilis its name. You also still haveas a model, fon, which first appears in the work of martianus capella in the fifth century. And people realize this is an early on alternative to copernican orbits. It was discussed by lots of middle aged philosophers and all said it's more rational than Copernican rotation.
