Do You Need It Quieter or Louder?

Things sound better when they're louder, up to a point. Proximity effect is probably a big part of this. We do not perceive all frequencies in a flat response. Low frequencies need a lot of energy for us to hear it. High frequencies, it starts to trail off too. The best example i can give is, like a zilophone, or like a morimba. You'll see that the low notes on the morimba have very long tubes. I mean, tha's for resonance, the length and all that stuff. And then it kind of goes up to short, and then it gets long again.
