The Fair Is Not Between Between the Partners, but Through Physical Objects
I was never confident, and this may be my poor reading of subtitles, that they were actually their spouses cheating with each other. I often thought they were having two separate affairs. So what's interesting is there's just a lot of talismans throughout the film, okay? The use of the color red, like all the color coding, is it symbolic? Is it talismatic? Well, I would argue strongly that it's symbolic because we don't have any of the beats that you're talking about. We don't have where the color red is imprinted with emotional importance for the characters,. nor what it means for the characters, nor is that communicated to the audience.
