Merrick's La Bona
I wanted to write an escapist novel while experiencing what everyone was going through so my perspective was more broad rather than in my previous novels where I wrote from a very close interior first person. The late middle ages just sort of conjured itself as a place and a time in what felt to me like eastern europe but very much nonspecific. Because it really lent itself to this sort of fable fantasy fairy tale quasi-historical genre, that's how La Bona came about.
