Studying Proton Planets

Series contains approximately 30 % of the total mass found in the asteroid belt. It was likely on its way to becoming a planet before jupiter mucked that whole thing up. By studying proto planets, we have the potential to discover all kinds of things about planetary development and as a consequence, our own planet earth.
