How to Stick to Your Guns in a Novel

I had comments about this novel saying, you know, why is everyone talking about money? It makes me feel really uncomfortable. I wanted to keep that uncomfortableness but I wanted to craft the language and maybe pull back on the dollars and sense but use other words that reflect people talking about money. Yeah, I mean I don't think money being an uncomfortable topic is a reason not to put it in a novel That's exactly why I agree with territory for a novel.
