Is the World Getting Worse?

We might worry about an increased risk of conflict as this really radically powerful technology shifts balances of power or changes the nature of military technology. The median researcher, if you survey them, assign something like a 5% chance to unsafe systems eventually causing outcomes as bad as human extinction.
