The Effects of Artificial Light on Invertebrate Communities

The researchers used white LED lighting to study the effects of artificial light on invertebrate communities. The results indicated that artificial light can have a really marked effect on the settlement process, they say. For example, one of the species that was very effective was the keel worm which you find on pebbles down on the shore and boat holes. It was encouraged to settle in artificial lit conditions so they were drawn to the light rather than being repelled by it.
