The Flannur is a man on his own and I specifically use the word of man. Baudelaire in one of his essays The Painter of Modern Life talks about the Flannur as the man of the crowd. He's looking at the crowd around him, putting people into categories and inventing stories about them. So it's an essentially urban. You're not just standing around.
