The Photo-Resistance Properties of Gray Selenium
The photo-resistance properties of selenium were discovered by mere chance. The physics at work here are a little complicated. It all has to do with valence bands and how electrons can move across a semiconductor. This is a type of photo reaction, just not a chemical one. If light goes away, the chunk of semiconductor simply becomes more resistive.
