Do Incentives Work?

Incentives don't always work the way we expected them to. Sometimes they create the opposite of what we were hoping to get. The Hanoi rat massacre was a classic example where an incentive change people's behavior accepted there were more rats, okay, not fewer. We often think about these incentives as mini goals, as an additional reason to do something so I know I should walk out because it's healthy for me and that's ultimately is the goal.
