The Navier-Stokes equations and things like that were in the slightly earlier part of the 1800s. The Prusser equation was for the amount of fluid given a certain pressure of fluid, how much fluid would flow through a tube. I'm not quite sure when the concept of viscosity, the resistance to motion in a fluid, the analog of friction for a fluid, first studied.
