In the nineteenth century there was a need for something that could make candles more odorless than beef tallow. William lever used palm oil to make sunlight soap, which was one of the great brands of victorian britain. The monte national fed corporation, unalever, still proudly bears his name. He was unpleasant. He was racist. But he sow himself as the great man.
