i'd take capacity for really any valence experience so pleasure and pain if they're understood in extremely broad sense it's such that pain can include you know existential angst and worry and fear and pleasure can include essential of or and wonder and love. And i think Peter Singer would agree with that what that gives you is a concern with suffering but not life so famously there are your famous arguments against this view  that it would be fine to get a kitten from the shelter and make its life a good kitten life have fun playing with it and then painlessly kill it.
