German Anti-Miscegenation Laws
German lawyers had examined American anti-miscegenation laws. More than half of US states had these laws preventing marriage between white people and black people. Some German officials wanted to consider using a one drop rule. That is, one drop of Jewish blood would make a person Jewish. But ultimately they decided that the American laws were too extreme. Instead the Germans came up with a convoluted hierarchy of different levels of Jewishness depending on ancestry and cultural practices. These rules were made up and invented logic.
