Jonah's Reservations in the Book of Jonah

In the opening chapter of the book, Jonah receives his commission to go to Nineveh. After being thrown into the turbulent sea, he's promptly swallowed by a fish sent from God. No sooner does he arrive there and pronounce the impending judgment than the people of the city plead for mercy. The reader would have expected to learn of Jonah's satisfaction with his successful mission but just the opposite occurs.
