What Are the KPIs for an Open Source Company?
The non-financial metrics, particularly for an open source company, particularly in the earlier stages, you have to go beyond just the GitHub stars. We generally do look at how many pull requests are we talking about? How many contributors there are inside and outside the organization? How active is that level of contribution that's occurring? How quickly are they iterating and working through financial issues that would emerge in an open source project that might be coming about? When you get to commercialization, then a whole set of metrics kind of layer on top. Some of the best businesses that we have happened to invest into, believe it or not, are now reaching 200% NDR, 200% net dollar
