What if My Phone Was Based on Vacuum Tubes?
Vacuum tubes were used in the first computers of the 40s and 50s. A modern iPhone would take up a couple of city blocks, he says. It's just going to be much bigger, take much more power, and be much slower. The problem with vacuum tubes is that they produce a lot of heat.
