The Shangri-Laz were under an exclusive contract to Karma Sutra Productions. Jeff Barry and Artie Butler went back into the studio with a two minute edit of the recording. They overdubbed sound effects of waves and seagulls on the chorus. The group was suddenly big. Remember, walking in the sand made the top five; they got booked onto Murray the K's Brooklyn Fox shows. Billy Joel would later claim that Shadow Morton never paid in the $67 fee he was owed for the session.
