The middle colonies ended up finally joining the pro-independence delegates the next month. They feared that those states in the middle of this Virginia and New England colonies which were ready to go they would be the worst fields of civil war in the entire union if they did not join. The other line of division which was discussed was basically two confederations north and south but again I'll say the reason they did not pursue that rather logical and natural pathway is they feared that those confederations would fall into civil war over finances commerce and all of the land that was under dispute.
