Ezra was not the one to lead the charge. Ezra was the one to come second part of the way through the book. He has a pioneering spirit. We know leaders who are pioneers, m they want to start new things. The talmud says he had such a passion for the law that if moses had not given the law on mount sinai, ezra would have given the law here at the return of the xiles.
