The Canadian Missionaries of the Qing Dynasty

Michael Elson is involved in rural development, environmental protection and heritage preservation. He helped found the Western Academy of Beijing in 1994 where he taught for some years as China Studies Coordinator. His grandparents were Canadian missionaries who came out right at the end of the Qing dynasty. They went right at the time of the founding of the Republic of China.
