According to the autobiography, f d r made him a federal investigator. Downard says that he approached j p. Morgan with a gold certificate and used it as leverageto morgan's personal library where he had books of magic. There are a lot of very real things that downer talks about in his like, i guess i would call it, like, his satanic freemason tintin type adventures. But again, none of it is what I would call useful for doing more deeper research. It's like designed to be catnip or something.
