The mustang fought in the korean war. They did a lot of ground, ground attack work until they were replaced by jets. The dominican republic phased theirs out 19 79 or 19 80. Part of that is because the merlin engine was so efficient and so easily maintained. And part of it was because the air frame itself was so well put together that it could stretch nd keep off. It's amazing that they were still in use today.
