The Impact of Ethanol Blended Petrol on Fuel Efficiency
Ethanol blended petrol reduces efficiency by 7%. Burning 1 liter of ethanol gives around 34% less energy than burning the same amount of petrol. Since ethanol absorbs moisture from the air and separates water from petrol, this water corrodes the engine leading to starting issues. All vehicles manufactured in India are tuned for E10 but they may not be able to run on a higher blend.
