The old guard are dad's generals. Atelis was one of those guys. There's a bunch of them and they're all famous and they're good and they are hard-bitten by this time. Alexander was born into that world. I wonder how they felt about the 20-year-old Wunderkind, right? Especially before he was proven as anything like a Wunderkind.
