When you think about curiosity as filling in information gap, you imagine that curiosity is searching for a specific piece of information. We aren't curious in a vacuum as individual knowers; we are always social knowers. So given that social complexity, that the social networks of the knower and the thing they're trying to know, we really need something more complex than simply information gap filling.
