The iPad was announced, but it wasn't available yet. We were all developing apps for it without having access to the hardwareyet. What I ended up shipping for Instapaper's first iPad app was just a stretched out iPhone app. It was terrible. And I replaced it as quickly as possible with a total redesign. You really need to use the hardware to really know how something feels.
