The Passion of Gregory of Nazianzos

Gregory of Nazianzos is a cultivated man, but he's also a passionate Christian. Does he become one once he's forced to be a priest, or does he have that kind of drive beforehand? He was a Christian even before his ordination. And yet, it was more, I guess, kind of intellectual exercise. Before it became more practical, more pastoral and more socially significant.
