Qualcomm's Overcharge for Its Intellectual Property

Qualcomm is now in this very dominant position in wireless networking. It owns not just the silicon and sells the modems that enables this, but a lot of the patents surrounding CDMA. Qualcomm's model is unusual in that it sells the chips in a separate division to another unit that licenses its intellectual property to use them. Apple stopped paying for Qualcomm's chips while this dispute was ongoing at the beginning of 2017.
