Wartime Inflation and the Strike
In 1922 the railway shop men which were specifically the sort of maintenance workers on the trains called a strike. The general workforce at large was divided over whether this strike was advisable or advantageous and whether it would even be able be viable because it was technically illegal. Harding administration then went to court and asked for an injunction enabling them to stop the strike forcibly. A district judge delivered an injunction that was a shockingly broad decree banning picketing, banning strike meetings,. banning the spending of any strike funds to support the strike.
