The History of Hieroglyphs

The exhibition tells the story of how hieroglyphs came to be deciphered. It takes a lot of work just to decipher a joke or a text from the period. Many of us might think immediately of the Rosetta Stone, but there's a longer history of fascination with Hieroglyphs. The last inscription was written down in 394 AD; after that it fell out of use.
