Is There a Difference Between Civic and Political Engagement?

Among religionists, it is quite clear that they are both highly civically engaged and also highly politically engaged. But in terms of the secularists, i mean, you've got a group that is very highly politically engaged, but only moderate levels of civic engagement. And why is that? Well, the explanation is actually not that hard to see. A lot of civic activity comes through religious groups. In fact, you could argue that religious congregations are the largest engine of civic activity in the united states.
