The Ephesian Context of the Artemisian Festival

Consider the context of the Artemisian festival as you read Paul's words from chapter 5, this time hopefully with a little bit of context. Just like they take the statue of Artemis down to the harbor, and they wash her and restore her virginity. She has her virginity restored, and by the time she makes it back to the temple, you are supposed to have made sure she has lost it again. And so Paul responds to that by saying: "You husbands, will you better love your wives?"
