Do You Need Cold Water for Your Ocular Motor Response?
When you touch someone's corner, you're looking for a bilateral motor response. You want to see both eyes constrict closed with cranion nerve seven. And then you've got reflexes related to a cranial nerve eight. So we talk about the ocula caphalic or ocula coloric reflexes. These are responses from the vestibular apparatus of tis cranial nerve 8. If your patient is brain stemmed dead, as you turn the head, the eyes will just remain fixed in the mid point and just roll with the head. That's quite a confusing reflex.
