The Unprecedented Fire of Pigami Creek
A rare combination of atmospheric events collided over Pigami Creek. The drop in humidity had created the driest conditions in over 140 years. Wind speeds were higher than predicted as well, and more importantly, the wind just kept blowing. As that hot air rises, it creates a vacuum at the surface that sucks in wind and oxygen. And so this factor thrown in there caused the models to forecast that the fire would not burn anywhere near as rapidly as what it actually did.
