When a city hosts a marathon, the mortality rate for people who have a heart condition goes up about 15% on the exact day of the marathon compared to all the surrounding days in that city. The reason why is because the roads are closed and ambulances and people who are driving people who need to get to the hospital can't get there fast enough. So it's a random act or a chance occurrence because you don't choose to have your heart attack on any particular day if you're a 75 year old American. But that chance occurrence led to a delay in care and we show a 15% increase in mortality.
