The Role of Invisibility in Science

Tracy Logan visited University of Galway in Ireland via a family outing to the beach with cousin Rita and her kids. She found out about a tiny creature that lives on the back of hermit crabs that has mastered the trick of not losing its head. Why is it that some animals can regenerate lost body parts? Salamanders can regrow a tail, but other species, notably us, are terrible at regrowing amputated appendages. Finally, if you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs, well, that's a really good trick, but not nearly as impressive as being able to grow your head back after you've lost it.
