Why State Lotteries Don't Want You to Put Your Money in a Savings Account
State lotteries in the mighty US Treasury Department don't want you to put your money into a savings account. The biggest lottery in this country is run by New York State, which generates $7 billion in annual sales. It's hard for anyone but the government to run a lottery when the government thinks the only lottery should be run by the government itself.
