i think one of the reasons why Bush struggled as president was he could never escape the sort of a batamal image that you get when you are vice president. I remember a very famous hollywood type who made this, i joke, it was not meant in a raciest way, but he was sort of saying byden was picked as the white waspy dufis neighbor in the jeffersons to make obamma seem more serious. Aand i think micki kaus had a similar point. But anyway, biden was never a particularly serious guy. Byden also think they thought would help with certain pockets, either red pockets and blue states, or pockets
