How to Get Right Into the Action of a Story in a Commercial Novel

When writing a scene, stop right in the middle of it. Give yourself time before you write to read the last three or four pages that you wrote. Sometimes it even helps to print out a paragraph or two of your work and have it in your workspace. But really, it is just bumming the chair and some days are really harder than others. And maybe those first 15 minutes are a bit rickety but it does get better after that.
