When people don't even recognize or outright reject you know something about Scripture that counters against some other authority. You almost have this reverse Jefferson Bible happening with a lot of people where they're going in and keeping the things that offend Jefferson, cutting out the miracles and the atonement. It's exactly the sort of Protestant liberalism mentality that would say well virgins don't get pregnant so the virgin birth is untrue. This doesn't fit with what I want to believe therefore I am standing over the scripture and editing it out.
Our good friend and partner in The After Party project, Russell Moore, joins us to talk about his new book, “Losing Our Religion: An Altar Call for Evangelical America.” Curtis and Russell talk about why “mapping” our loss is critical for those who currently feel culturally, politically, or spiritually homeless. We explore two kinds of maps - the “treasure map” and the “minefield map” - and why Christians need both.
