The Different Types of Communication That Chimpanzees Make

The sound that the chimpanzees make when they find food, these rough grunt calls. If it's a food that they really like, they tend to give these nice high-pitched tonal calls. And as their preference for the food or their opinion of the food gets lower, then they actually give these much lower-pitched gruffer sounds. The two papers you've looked at, food calls and also alarm calls, but what is systematically different about your results than what was assumed,. which was that they were just visceral grunting.
