Hopkins: The Most Important Person in the Roosevelt Administration During the Second New Deal
Roosevelt earmarks Hopkins to head up the Works Progress Administration. He's a thin, kind of, sort of sickly person who gets stomach cancer in 1939. But he makes an amazing recovery and becomes Roosevelt's trusted advisor. To some, Hopkins is seen as something of a villain for being too accommodating to the Soviet Union during World War II.
