Bob Greene: My parents never wavered about going to church. He says they taught him that the Lord comes first, even when there's pleasures of the world for a season. "I hear these parents today can't say, well, to the preacher, we're probably going to be gone this summer," he says. 'We've been alive long enough to see fathers kind of come and go,' Greene adds.
