What Is It Like to Be a First Generation Farmer?
"It's almost impossible to go out here and be a first generation farmer nowadays," he says. "You know, the days a going out here and buying a chain and a lock and something that cost five bucks to do, you know, they just don't do it." The cattle industry is one of those things where 'you find a way to make it work' Says his father let him shadow an 87-year-old man who had been farming for 50 years.
