Alan Newell introduced the idea of cognitive architecture more than 50 years ago. There have been a lot of different attempts at meeting his vision, developing cognitive architectures. And I think one recent development in the last decade has been an increasing convergence of those very diverse attempts toward partial, but very strongly emerging consensus about the basic principles. That's something I think scientifically is very comforting, that we're really making progress on elucidating the basic principles of human cognition.
