Those Are the Threats to Masculinity and the Foundation of a Strong Marriage
Owen: I grew up in a church culture where whenever someone would get a divorce it was always the woman's fault. He says there are ways that men are taught to lean into masculinity and patriarchy which creates a Christianity that then has a subservient group of people. Owen: There is something about us as human beings that requires a kind of coherence and a kind of stability in order to survive. The reason why we see these rash of of anti LGBT laws, he says, is because white men specifically are terrified of what they see as threats to their masculinity.
